Jaguar has restyled its XJ sedans, the new 2011 Jaguar XJ flagship has the flamboyant lines and driving dynamics and precision.
The 2011 Jaguar XJ is a cab-rearward design, also it rides on a 119.4-inch wheelbase and are 201.7 inches long, while the XJL has a 124.3-inch wheelbase and is 206.6 inches long. While the cars are still made in Castle Bromwich, England. All also come in the extended wheelbase models, like the test car, that add an “L” to the XJ moniker.
Jaguar will offer three versions of the XJ, starting with its “entry-level” XJ with a 5.0-liter 385-horsepower V8, it is the base version. There’s also the XJ Supercharged with the same V8 creating 470 horsepower or the XJ Supersport with an even racier 510-horsepower V8. They all engine mates with a silky and beautifully calibrated 6-speed automatic transmission.
XJL’s engine produces 385 horsepower and 380 lb-ft. it can move the 4,131 lbs. so it beast at a rate of 0-60 mph in 5.4-seconds. The 2011 Jaguar XJ engines have 15,000-mile service intervals with no-cost maintenance for five years or 50,000 miles, The EPA estimates that the XJ will click off 15mpg city and 22 mpg highway. We came close to that, turning 14/20.
The base XJ‘s price started at $90,700, whileit with the less powerful engine and shorter wheelbase begins at $72,700. Going up from there to the standard XJL moves the price to $79,700. The Supersport starts at $110,200 or $113,200 for the stretched version. With options the test car hit $94,150.
2011 Jaguar XJ does exactly what Jaguar hopes it will give buyers an alternative choice and a reason to consider taking a leap with the leaping cat again.
